LABORATORY PROCEDURES FOR PLANT CELL LINES

REFERENCE NO.: PC/1998/2/2.4

TITLE: ALLOCATION OF A PRELIMINARY ACCESSION NUMBER (PCA)

For the period between the arrival of the culture at the collection and the final acceptance of the cell lines for patent deposit or the public collection all cell lines should be recognisable by an accession number.

The accession number is given after arrival of the culture and before preliminary and final quality control. The Accession number consists of the date of arrival, the serial number and the first two letters of the genus and species name of the plant the cell line has been derived from.

 Example: 4.6.1998/3/Sotu for

A cell culture of Solanum tuberosum which arrived at the 4th of June 1998 as the third of three cultures which arrived at that date.

The Preliminary Accession Number is noted under remarks in the Day Book (PC/1998/2/2.3)
